Books, Bags & Beats: A Back-to-School Community Mixer

Get Involved with Books, Bags & Beats

A back-to-school community mixer where music, supplies, creativity, and community come together so students can start the year with joy, dignity, and confidence.

Led by Donnie Bosco. Presented by Lofty Ambition. Powered by Strength Beyond Measure LLC.

The bag is the gift. The room is the memory. The beat makes excellence feel possible.

What this is

A joyful, dignified community mixer.

Books, Bags & Beats brings music, school supplies, creativity, and community together so students can begin the school year with joy, dignity, confidence, and evidence that excellence belongs to them too.

This is not framed as a handout. It is a room where families can feel welcomed, students can feel celebrated, and community partners can help carry the start of the school year with care.

Event goal

200+ backpacks, school supplies, and creative student-centered artifacts.

Minimum goal: 100 bags. Stretch goal: 250+ student and family touches.

Every bag helps a student begin the year with more confidence, readiness, and dignity.

Ways to get involved

Sponsor bags or supplies

Help provide backpacks, notebooks, folders, pencils, pens, erasers, crayons, glue sticks, and encouragement cards.

Volunteer

Help with setup, welcome, check-in, bag stations, games, activities, cleanup, or general event flow.

Request a vendor or community partner table

Bring a family-safe resource, activity, service, creative table, education table, wellness table, youth development table, or community support table.

Provide in-kind support

Help with supplies, printing, student workbook/artifact inserts, music, event operations, or community materials.

Request a table

Community partners, vendors, artists, educators, organizations, and local businesses may request a table.

Tables should support the spirit of the event: back-to-school readiness, family support, creativity, youth development, education, wellness, community resources, or joy.

Submitting interest does not guarantee approval of a table or role. A member of the Books, Bags & Beats team will follow up as we confirm fit, family safety, space, timing, and event permissions.

Community Memory Box

The room should leave a memory.

Students and families will be invited to leave anonymous notes, ideas, and reflections in the Community Memory Box. Each year, what the community shares will help improve the next Books, Bags & Beats.
